Satnam + Harshi Melbourne Sikh Wedding

Satnam & Harshi had an amazing 4 day wedding celebration full of traditions, food, color, emotions, energy and lots of family. The first day was Harshi’s Maiya and it was quite calm. Satnam’s side also had Maiya the next day. Rangoli design was made both at Harshi and Satnam’s side. The designs incorporated rangoli (coloured powder), flour and rice. It was done by the relatives.

It was the second day where things got more fired up. It was very, very fun to watch all the surprise performances that were performed by Harshi’s cousins and relatives. Sikh Wedding ceremony took place at Craigieburn Gurdwara Sahib in Melbourne. It was a traditional sikh wedding. The Sikh marriage ceremony is the Anand Karaj, or blissful union. Once the ceremony was complete, Satnam and Harshi were whisked away in a beautiful old school Rolls Royce. We headed to Carlton Gardens Melbourne to photograph the wedding portraits.

When we got back to Harshi’s house, the groom and the groomsmen had to pay their way into the house for the official Doli. After leaving from Harshi’s house, Doli was taken to Satnam’s side where his mother and other relatives were waiting for them. Satnam’s mother welcomed them in a traditional Punjabi way. The reception took place at The Peninsula, Docklands in Melbourne the next day. Before arriving at the venue Harshi & Satnam wanted to get some portraits done at The Langham Hotel Melnourne.

Satnam and Harshi, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your big wedding celebration. It was a true honour and a great experience. I really felt like part of your family after 4 days and everyone treated us so well. I couldn’t have asked for better clients with better families than yours. Good luck for your future.

Elliot + Shae Kiama, Sydney Intimate Wedding

I love capturing weddings that are full of local culture, that reflect the bride and groom, and are just plain fun, and this wedding of Elliot and Shae was a beautiful example of that. Held in Gerringong, Sydney at a beautiful Farmhouse with a country garden. Garden had 200 year old Moreton Bay fig trees. It was a beautiful day with no sign of cloud or rain. I knew while driving to Gerringong that the day is going to be full of fun and excitement for couple and all the guests.

The couple organised the celebrations that was uniquely them. The couple got ready with family and friends at the cottage on the Farmhouse. The ceremony, however, held true to tradition, and the couple said I do in an elegant outdoor ceremony. Afterwards, the couple led the entire wedding guests to a beautifully decorated outdoor location for drinks in country garden. There were few outdoor games organised by couple for guests.

After having few drinks with friends and family, couple decided to go for a walk in the beautiful (52 acre) country garden and have some great portraits done. Both Elliot and Shae are great people and I had the pleasure to work with them before on their pre wedding session. That session helped us all to be comfortable with each other on this day. We all had great fun and had some amazing portraits.

Best of luck to both Elliot and Shae for their future life together. You guys make such a great couple together. I would really like to thank you both for inviting me to photographer your special day.

Meet Shairy …. she is really a beautiful women from Sydney and she is a fantastic make and hair stylist. We met through one of the networking meetings in Sydney and had worked on a shoot before, where she was the makeup and hair stylist.

When I spoke to Shairy about the glamour portraits, she was really interested in doing it and experiencing it herself. She did her own makeup and hairs, as she is a fantastic artist. We decided on a location to shoo at and after a couple of hours of fun, and numerous outfit changes, we ended up with a collection of images that truly showcase her inner beauty and glamour.

Elliot + Shae Lane Cove National Park Pre Wedding

I met Elliot and Shae while they were living in Sydney and now they have moved to Kiama. They both are very adventurous and love doing skydiving. Their wedding is in November 2015 and it will be a great countryside wedding. Shae has organized a farm where they want to get married.

When I first met them Elliot was not quiet into photography but Shae is very focused and know what she wants to achieve from her wedding photography. So I advised to get a pre wedding session done so that Elliot can get comfortable in front of the camera. So we decided on a date and location for the pre wedding session. Shae wanted to do this in woods with more of nature as backdrop. So we decided to go to Lane Cove National Park.

When they both arrived at Lane Cove National Park, Elliot was very nervous and he told me that he does not know what to do. So I asked him to just relax and have a seat while I do some individual portraits with Shae. And just after 5 mins he said to me that he is very much comfortable now and would be fine for the shoot. So we got started with individual portraits of Elliot and then couple together. I was really amazed to see how comfortable Elliot was in front of the camera. They both were just amazing and very natural throughout the session.

We all had a great fun time together. And this session gave me the chance to know Elliot and Shae even better. Even they both got very comfortable with each other in front of the camera.

Sai + Penny Sydney Wedding

I did a pre wedding session with Sai & Penny and that helped us to get comfortable with the camera. On the wedding day we started with the boys getting ready. And capturing detail shots. The weather was perfect for a wedding. Penny was getting ready at her mom's house. After having some getting ready shots with Penny we headed to the Church for the ceremony. Penny was looking stunning in her wedding dress. Helen Sotis did a great job with Penny’s makeup. And Elizabeth Panovski from Sydney wedding Flowers organised beautiful flowers for Penny’s special day.

After the ceremony we went to Nurragingy Reserve for some fabulous portraits. Weather was amazing on the day and we had lot of light to play with during the session. Both Sai and Penny are great souls and have very big heart. We had a great time during this session and lots of laughs and play. This can clearly been seen in their photos.

The reception was at beautiful Oatlands House. This place has some great backdrops for amazing photos. We had some amazing Bollywood performances by Nupur Dance Group during the night and great Greek music by Greek Entertainment.

Sai & Penny are such a great couple. I really feel great capturing their special day. Your wedding was fantastic in every way, the joy in the room was palpable, and fireflies danced in the light of the setting sun. I wish you a lifetime of happiness and joy! Much Love and Appreciation... Jag.

Davinder and Navneet has two beautiful kids Jasmeh and Haneet.

It was so much fun hanging out with the Davinder & Navneet’s family on a beautiful afternoon in September.

This is their very first time doing a family session after their daughter Haneet was born.

We went out to Baulkham Hills Farms to get some beautiful natural look. Kids were also very excited and they had a great time and I enjoyed capturing their happiness and joy.

Satnam + Harshi Melbourne Pre-Wedding Shoot

Went to Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne for a pre wedding photography shoot with Satnam + Harshi. Their Big Indian wedding is not until December 2015 but they wanted to get in early so they could use some of the images for their ‘Thanks You’ cards. It’s a cute idea as it makes it really personal, and a lovely gift for the recipient.

They want to do the shoot at the location where they had their first date. So we decided to start the shoot from St Kilda Beach as it was the place where they had their first date. And complete the shoot at Royal Botanic Gardens because this was another place they walked through on their first meeting. But because of Melbourne weather on that day we had to cancel St Kilda Beach and go straight to Royal Botanic Gardens.

Harshi decided to dress in western for their first part of the shoot and then change to traditional Punjabi dress.

Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne is great for a pre wedding photography shoot as it has quite a bit of variety. Beautiful trees, the lake and birdlife, the rolling lawns and masses of ivy covering the ground. It’s true it’s quite a busy park, so, you do need to be a little patient at times waiting for others to move out of the frame of the image you’re trying to capture, but it’s worth the wait because it’s such a lovely place.

Sai + Penny Pre-Wedding Shoot

Pre-wedding photo sessions are always a great way to know couple and get comfortable with them behind the camera. And it also gives a chance for couple to get comfortable together in front of the camera.

Sai & Penny wanted to do their pre wedding session on a beach and we decided to go to Milk Beach Vaucluse – Vaucluse. It has very nice city views and is a secluded beach.

We all had amazing time together laughing and shooting together.

It was really a nice day with great views of Sydney Harbour Bridge from the beach.

Milk Beach have great textures as backdrops.

Both Sai and Penny has a great chemistry going between each other and they really make a great couple together.

We finished the day with some sunset shots and lighting was great.

Creating Silhouettes are always fun to shoot.

I would love to thank Sai & Penny for providing me the chance to know them. And I would say they are really great people to be friends with. They both are great and make a lovely & beautiful couple.

Didar + Charanjit Melbourne Sikh Wedding

Didar and Charanjit’s Melbourne wedding was everything you want a Melbourne wedding to be. The bride and groom got ready at lovely Grand Hyatt, Melbourne. The ceremony took place at the stately Blackburn Sikh Temple. After the ceremony was over, the bride and groom wanted to head over to groom's house for some traditional sikh wedding rituals. Once we were done at goom's house bride and groom wanted to head to Melbourne CBD for some truly extraordinary portraits. Just before we were about to leave for groom's house it started hailing, and everyone was bit disappointed how we are going to make to city. But eventually hailing stopped and we managed to reach grooms house. When we were about to leave for Melbourne city rain eased a bit, so we decided to head over to city. Luck was on our side and when we reached Melbourne city rain completely stopped. Couple decided to take their portraits at Melbourne Parliament House with its rich texture and extraordinary backdrop. The reception took place at The Grand Reception in Wantirna South, a cheerfully vibrant reception space.

How crazy and elaborately excellent are the bride’s shoes?

Charanjit has wonderful style, and her dress matched her personality perfectly. She looked fabulous in her red India lehenga

Didar had a matching turban with Charanjit's lehenga.

Sana from Hair & Makeup by Sana did a great job with Charanjit's makeup and hair for her special day. This is Didar's sword that he was carrying for his special day. It is a sikh ritual to carry this on a wedding day.

Punjabi jutti is a ethnic Indian hand embroidered shoes. This was worn by Didiar with his Punjabi shervani The bridal bangles (chudda, in punjabi) is worn by bride which matches her wedding dress as well. Charnjit's chudda was elegant combination of red, golden and silver which complimented her dress.

Didar's sister's putting kalgi on his turban. The Kalgi is normally worn on the front of the turban and consists of a single feather or a a cluster of feathers worn as an ornament which forms a plume.

Charanjit had a golden Kaliras. Kaliras (or kalires) are ornamental jewellery worn on the wrists of Punjabi brides. They hang like beautiful chandeliers and come in a range of colors to match any outfit. They are enchanting and make any bride even more gorgeous.

Charanjit while she was waiting to be taken inside Sikh Temple. Blackburn Sikh Temple is one of the main Sikh Temples in Melbourne and is very frequently visited by most sikh community.

Sikh wedding ceremony takes place in the presence of Shiri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Didar and Charanjit's first ride as a husband and wife. These photos were taken when they just arrived at Didar's house for some traditional rituals.

Weather was not that great on the day as it hailed and rained, but all the family members and friends were there to help bride and groom, as it was their special day.

After we were finished with the ritual at Didar's house we all headed to Melbourne city for couple's portrait session.

We were lucky enough that when we reached Parliament House rain just stopped. And we were able to capture some beautiful moments there.

Parliament has a rich texture on its pillars and walls that it makes a wonderful backdrop for a sikh wedding. Both Didar and Charanjit looked very royal with their fabulous dresses and background.

Melbourne’s Parliament House is really spectacular as a backdrop for Indian Sikh weddings.

We worked as quickly as we could just to avoid rain. It was so wonderful to be out, and even MORE wonderful that the bride and groom were so excited about their portraits.

Once at The Grand Reception in Wantirna South, all the details were documented before guest started to arrive.

The wedding cake was prepared by Isher Eggless Bakers and they did a great job with this eggless cake.

Even for reception Sana from Hair & Makeup by Sana did a great job and it was completely a different look from morning.

Didar's sister Rani was the first person to start the speech for the night.

Didar's best friend made everyone smile with his speech.

In the end it was Didar's turn for the speech.

Couple also organised a Bhangra performance on Punjabi music.

After the bhangra performance it was couple's turn for the First Dance.

Everyone was invited to the dance floor after couple's first dance.

Music plays a big role in any Indian Sikh Wedding. Punjabis are very fond of music and dance. The atmosphere was really FANTASTIC.

Music kept everyone on the dance floor for rest of the night.

There are always special moments even on the dance floor when couples' parents are brought to the dance floor to dance with the couple.

Didar and Charanjit, I cannot thank you enough for your enthusiasm, energy, and kindness. I know your wedding photography was very important to you, and I thank you for giving me ample time to create images that I hope you adore as much as I adored capturing them for you!
